Walleye: 12–18 ft on main-lake chara flats, plus the weed edges in 8–13 ft; smaller crankbaits trolled in the evening on the flats; a jig and crawler on the weed edges, and the bite is improving as temps cool. Leech: a grind bite. Easy to mark, hard to trigger. Fish low light or go home. Main-lake flats in 12 to 14: jig and crawler or a crankbait, and stay mobile because they move daily. Sunny and calm pushes fish out to 18 to 23, so slow down and drag live bait. Muskies are riding the rocks on small bucktails. Spinners at first and last light have been the most consistent bite on the lake.

Walleye: 14–18 ft on sand flats holding cabbage, plus the outside edge of the shoreline weeds; drop shot, pulled spinner or slip bobber with a leech or crawler; perch- and crawfish-pattern cranks in low light. Smallmouth: 6–18 ft on rock reefs and isolated boulders; drop shot, Ned rig or tube. Bluegill: 4–8 ft in the shallow weedy bays — Boy, Sucker and Shingobee; jig with a crawler, leech or small fathead. Crappie: 8–12 ft in those same bays, a touch deeper than the bluegills; jig with a crawler, leech or small fathead. Muskie: shallow rock and cabbage; topwater and jerkbaits — but release mortality runs high while surface temps stay warm, so consider laying off them until it cools. Conditions summarized from the Aug 7 Livin MN Outdoors report — watch it at the source link.
